What’s worth it? It’s not a sacrifice if it moves you forward.

What’s worth it? It’s not a sacrifice if it moves you forward.

If you’re reading this right now, the chances are pretty high that you want to see some kind of change happen in your life. We all do in one way or another. For some of us, it’s a change in the status of our financial lives. For others, it may be a change in our personal lives. For most… it’s the BIG change. It’s a deep desire to shift the way we approach our lives. They’re all intertwined. As “they” say… the way we do one thing is the way we do everything. Everyone wants to level up.

Here’s the good news: If you’re doing the research and looking for resources or help right now, you have begun your journey and for that, I am so, SO proud of you. Taking the first few baby steps is the only way to begin.

That’s the thing though. The first steps are the beginning.

There are so many of us that venture out carefully into the big bad world of possibilities… and that’s as far as we get. We spend weekends and late nights online looking and reading and searching and yearning, and we wait, wait wait for “THE” answer to our problems and we never move past that point. We get caught in an endless loop of searching for answers. Some spend years there. It’s the plight of the seeker. Seeking is so, so good, but only if the lessons we learn actually push us forward.

It happens for a reason.
It happens because change isn’t easy.

Not if it’s gonna be real and lasting change anyway. In fact, real change can get downright uncomfortable at times.

And people don’t like to be uncomfortable. We like to be cozied up under our fuzzy blankets reading things that feel good. Affirmations. “Go-girl” reinforcement. Mugs full of hot tea with kick-ass, female empowerment slogans.

All of which as wonderful, don’t get me wrong.

But what we really need is the daily reminder that says “CHANGE REQUIRES DOING THE WORK.” Because it does.

It takes outer work. Like setting aside time in your life for creating action plans. And setting milestones that will help you know when you’ve hit the next level. It’s the homework required for life, and it isn’t easy.

It takes inner work… like gut checking yourself. Looking inside is rarely comfortable and it certainly isn’t easy. But it’s the soul work that makes sure your head and your heart are truly aligned with your goals and your plan. Because if they are not… if you haven’t done the emotional work on yourself, this question will always, ALWAYS arise at some point:

Is it really worth the effort?
I mean… IS IT?

That’s the huge, BIG mamma question of our lives. And the answer isn’t going to be anywhere online, let me tell you. The only place you can find the answer to that question is inside of yourself. And the only way that change will truly happen in your life is if you can answer with a resounding YES.

If we really want to make a change in our current state of being it will require a sacrifice of some kind. Period. There’s no question. It just will. If we want our life to be different than it is today, you will have to sacrifice time, energy, “things” and even your emotional comfort place at some point.

And it will be worth it.
It may not be comfortable, but it WILL be worth it.

Those things we cling to that keep us from making changes have elements that are rooted deep inside. It usually isn’t the amount of physical work or time that holds us back. It’s the emotional attachment to our current state.

So when you start to feel a little squirly about doing ALL the necessary work, make this your new mantra. Post-it-note it to your mug of tea if you need to:

It’s not a sacrifice if it moves me forward.
If it moves me forward… it’s an investment.

It’s not a sacrifice if it moves me forward.
If it moves me forward… it’s an investment.

– Desteni Mason

Spending your time and effort creating a plan helps you see the path.

Doing the inner work helps you clear the road of metal debris.

Doing without (temporarily) opens the door to future abundance.

Working hard on the actions propels you toward your destination.

It’s not a sacrifice if it moves me forward.
If it moves me forward… it’s an investment.

It’s not a sacrifice if it moves me forward.
If it moves me forward… it’s an investment.

It’s not a sacrifice if it moves me forward.
If it moves me forward… it’s an investment.

Now… GO.
