Are you choosing success… or struggle?

Are you choosing success… or struggle?

Here’s the question of the day. And for every day really: Today, right now… are you choosing success? Or are you choosing struggle?

“Well that’s a crazy thing to say Desteni… I mean.. Why would I CHOOSE struggle? No one CHOOSES struggle. It just HAPPENS. If I could do anything about it, I would. But I can’t. That’s what struggle IS.”

Yes. There are times in everyone’s lives when bad things happen. We can’t control everything, and let’s be honest… there are times when it seems like life throws us a huge pile of crap. It stinks. It is sticky and deep and hard to move out of.  It lingers. And sometimes we feel like we might never wash it off.

The truth is, a lot of people don’t. The crap falls into their lives and its heaviness blinds them from seeing a way out. They stop fighting and surrender to the crap, deciding that they will just live a crappy life from now on. They struggle through the thick of it every day, meeting other crappy people with crappy lives, deciding that their combined crappy reality is just “the way things are.”

They sit still in it.

So their lives continue to stink.

They choose struggle.

Again and again.

Every day.

Here’s the truth: If you find yourself in a place where you are struggling, you can either choose to sit still in your struggle, or you can make the choice to move past it.

It’s really ALL about choice. And yes… You DO have a choice.

That BIG choice to move forward is made up of the thousands of little choices that you make every day. From the time you get up in the morning until the time you go to sleep every night, every moment contains a choice.

Here’s an example:

When you woke up this morning, what choices did you make?

Did you start your day by hitting the snooze button? That’s a choice that a lot of people make. If you did, ask yourself this question: Did that choice set me on a path for struggle or success?

Hitting the snooze might give you a few more minutes of scrumptious time with your pillow, but is that a growth decision? Did that choice lead you toward success? If you hit the snooze, did it make the rest of your morning routine a mad rush to get out the door?

Did you rush through your shower worrying about what to wear?

Did you rush through brushing your teeth and getting yourself or your kids prepared for the day?

Did you shove a quick breakfast down and rush out the door, hurrying to get to your morning destination?

If you did, you chose the struggle of time.

Or maybe you didn’t hit the snooze. Maybe you woke up and had some extra time to burn this morning. How did you spend it?

A lot of people these days wake up, grab their phone and immediately begin scrolling their social media feeds. And you know what? That’s not always a bad thing. Social media is full of inspiration and people who are dedicated to helping people reach their full potential. What did you choose to fill your mind with this morning? Inspiration to start the day with energy and confidence? Or the last post your ex made before going to bed last night? Your uncle’s rant about politics? A news story that made you mad?

What you fill your mind with is a choice.

Did you move your body this morning to help keep you healthy? Check in with your inner guidance, whatever that may be? Fix a healthy breakfast that will fuel you through your day? Plan your day with things that will fuel your growth?

Did you check your bank balance??

Every single choice we make can either keep us in a state of struggle or lead us toward success. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.

Want your life to stop stinking? Make a thousand little choices that will lead you toward success. Eventually, you’ll find yourself out of the crap and surrounded by the sweet, sweet smell of possibility and purpose.

It’s time to start choosing success.

Every moment. Every day.

You can do it.
